How To Do More

I always feel like I need to do more than I can possibly do. I try to make lists, organize my schedule, write myself reminders, and do everything at once to accomplish more. None of that works.

Last week I had a particularly daunting list of tasks. I knew all needed to do but I had no idea how I was going to do it all. Then my morning Bible reading reminded me how to do more of what really mattered. Reading my Bible reminded me to not do any of that stuff on my list. It reminded me that above all else I needed to focus on God.

So I did focus on God. I spent my morning praying. Whenever my list started to creep up in the back of my mind, I reminded myself, "No, right now I'm focusing on God." That day after I finished praying, I asked God what to do and kept asking Him what to do throughout my day.

That day was the most productive day I've had in a long time. I knocked out half of my daunting list before I even ate lunch. Because I focused on God and gave Him my time first and then let Him tell me what to do throughout the day, I was able to do so much of exactly what I actually needed to do.
